Surah Al-Qalam سُورَةُ القَلَمِ

۞ نۤۚ وَٱلۡقَلَمِ وَمَا یَسۡطُرُونَ ﴿١﴾

Eebe wuxuu ku dhaartay Qalinka iyo waxa Malaa'igtu qorayso (Camalka dadka)

Nun. By the pen and what they inscribe

مَاۤ أَنتَ بِنِعۡمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجۡنُونࣲ ﴿٢﴾

Ee Nabiyow Nicmada Eebe darteed lama waallid

You are not, [O Muhammad], by the favor of your Lord, a madman

وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجۡرًا غَیۡرَ مَمۡنُونࣲ ﴿٣﴾

Waxaana kuu sugnaaday Ajri aan go'ayn

And indeed, for you is a reward uninterrupted

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِیمࣲ ﴿٤﴾

Waxaana kuu sugnaaday dabeeco (fiican) oo weyn

And indeed, you are of a great moral character

فَسَتُبۡصِرُ وَیُبۡصِرُونَ ﴿٥﴾

Waad arki doontaa nabiyow Gaaladuna way arki doonaan

So you will see and they will see

بِأَییِّكُمُ ٱلۡمَفۡتُونُ ﴿٦﴾

kinna waalan (ama la caddibo)

Which of you is the afflicted [by a devil]

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِیلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلۡمُهۡتَدِینَ ﴿٧﴾

Eebe waa ogyahay Cidda ka dhunta Jidkiisa, waana ogyahay Cidda hanuunsan

Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has gone astray from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided

فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ﴿٨﴾

Ee Nabiyow ha maqlin xaq beeniyayaasha (Warkooda)

Then do not obey the deniers

وَدُّوا۟ لَوۡ تُدۡهِنُ فَیُدۡهِنُونَ ﴿٩﴾

Waxay jecel yihiin inaad u iilato iyana kuu soo iishaan

They wish that you would soften [in your position], so they would soften [toward you]

وَلَا تُطِعۡ كُلَّ حَلَّافࣲ مَّهِینٍ ﴿١٠﴾

Ha maqlin dhaar badane dhammaantiis oo dullaysan

And do not obey every worthless habitual swearer

هَمَّازࣲ مَّشَّاۤءِۭ بِنَمِیمࣲ ﴿١١﴾

oo Xanlow ah, isku diraa ah

[And] scorner, going about with malicious gossip

مَّنَّاعࣲ لِّلۡخَیۡرِ مُعۡتَدٍ أَثِیمٍ ﴿١٢﴾

Khayrka iyo Xoolahana reebta, gardarrow iyo dambiile ah

A preventer of good, transgressing and sinful

عُتُلِّۭ بَعۡدَ ذَ ٰلِكَ زَنِیمٍ ﴿١٣﴾

Xumaantana ku madax agad isku dhejisna ah (xumaanlow ah)

Cruel, moreover, and an illegitimate pretender

أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالࣲ وَبَنِینَ ﴿١٤﴾

inuu Xoolo iyo Wiilal uu leeyahay darteed (yuu saas u falay)

Because he is a possessor of wealth and children

إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِ ءَایَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ﴿١٥﴾

Marka Quraankannaga lagu akhriyana wuxuu dhahaa waa dadkii hore warkoodii

When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples

سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلۡخُرۡطُومِ ﴿١٦﴾

wuxuuse Eebe ka calaamayn Sanqaroorka

We will brand him upon the snout

إِنَّا بَلَوۡنَـٰهُمۡ كَمَا بَلَوۡنَاۤ أَصۡحَـٰبَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ إِذۡ أَقۡسَمُوا۟ لَیَصۡرِمُنَّهَا مُصۡبِحِینَ ﴿١٧﴾

Eebe wuu Imtixaanay Gaaladii (Reer Makaad) sidii loo imtixanay kuwii beerta markay ku dhaarten inay Aroortii goostaan

Indeed, We have tried them as We tried the companions of the garden, when they swore to cut its fruit in the [early] morning

وَلَا یَسۡتَثۡنُونَ ﴿١٨﴾

Iyagoon dhihin haddii Eebe idmo

Without making exception

فَطَافَ عَلَیۡهَا طَاۤئِفࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمۡ نَاۤئِمُونَ ﴿١٩﴾

Waxaase Beertii xagaa Eebe uga yimid Amar iyagoo hurda

So there came upon the garden an affliction from your Lord while they were asleep

فَأَصۡبَحَتۡ كَٱلصَّرِیمِ ﴿٢٠﴾

Waxayna noqotay wax la shafay oo kale

And it became as though reaped

فَتَنَادَوۡا۟ مُصۡبِحِینَ ﴿٢١﴾

wayna isu dhawaaqeen Subaxdii

And they called one another at morning

أَنِ ٱغۡدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرۡثِكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰرِمِینَ ﴿٢٢﴾

iyagoo leh kallaha oo beerta goosta

[Saying], "Go early to your crop if you would cut the fruit

فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟ وَهُمۡ یَتَخَـٰفَتُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾

wayna tageen iyagoo Codka hoos u dhigi

So they set out, while lowering their voices

أَن لَّا یَدۡخُلَنَّهَا ٱلۡیَوۡمَ عَلَیۡكُم مِّسۡكِینࣱ ﴿٢٤﴾

inaan Beerta maanta Miskiin soo gelin

[Saying], "There will surely not enter it today upon you [any] poor person

وَغَدَوۡا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرۡدࣲ قَـٰدِرِینَ ﴿٢٥﴾

Wayna kallaheen iyagoo diidan (in Miskiin u soo galo)

And they went early in determination, [assuming themselves] able

فَلَمَّا رَأَوۡهَا قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا لَضَاۤلُّونَ ﴿٢٦﴾

Markay ay arkeen Beertii siday tahay yey isu dhaheen waan soo dhunnay

But when they saw it, they said, "Indeed, we are lost

بَلۡ نَحۡنُ مَحۡرُومُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾

haddana way isgarteen waxayna dhaheen ma ehee waa la ina hoojiyey

Rather, we have been deprived

قَالَ أَوۡسَطُهُمۡ أَلَمۡ أَقُل لَّكُمۡ لَوۡلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ ﴿٢٨﴾

Markaas kii u fiicnaa yiri: miyaana idin dhihin war Eebe weyneeya

The most moderate of them said, "Did I not say to you, 'Why do you not exalt [Allah]

قَالُوا۟ سُبۡحَـٰنَ رَبِّنَاۤ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِینَ ﴿٢٩﴾

Markaasay dheheen Eebaa weyn, waan xad gudubnay

They said, "Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, we were wrongdoers

فَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ یَتَلَـٰوَمُونَ ﴿٣٠﴾

Markaasaa qaarba qaar ku jeedsaday iyagoo is dagaali

Then they approached one another, blaming each other

قَالُوا۟ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَاۤ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـٰغِینَ ﴿٣١﴾

Waxayna dheheen Magacaana ba'ye waan xad gudubnay

They said, "O woe to us; indeed we were transgressors

عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَاۤ أَن یُبۡدِلَنَا خَیۡرࣰا مِّنۡهَاۤ إِنَّاۤ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَ ٰغِبُونَ ﴿٣٢﴾

Eebe wuxuu u dhow yahay inuu noogu beddelo mid ka fiican isagaan Khayr ka rajaynaynaa eh

Perhaps our Lord will substitute for us [one] better than it. Indeed, we are toward our Lord desirous

كَذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلۡعَذَابُۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ أَكۡبَرُۚ لَوۡ كَانُوا۟ یَعۡلَمُونَ ﴿٣٣﴾

Caddibaaddu waa saas Caddibaadda Aakharaase ka weyn haddii ay wax ogyihiin

Such is the punishment [of this world]. And the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew

إِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِینَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِیمِ ﴿٣٤﴾

Kuwa Eebe ka dhowrsada waxay Eeba agtiisa ku leeyihiin «Jannada Naciimada»

Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord are the Gardens of Pleasure

أَفَنَجۡعَلُ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ كَٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ﴿٣٥﴾

Ma Muslimiinta yaanu kala mid dhigaynaa Dambiilayaasha

Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals

مَا لَكُمۡ كَیۡفَ تَحۡكُمُونَ ﴿٣٦﴾

Seed u dhihi kartaan saas

What is [the matter] with you? How do you judge

أَمۡ لَكُمۡ كِتَـٰبࣱ فِیهِ تَدۡرُسُونَ ﴿٣٧﴾

Mise Gaalooy waxaa idiin sugnaaday Kitaab aad akhrisataan

Or do you have a scripture in which you learn

إِنَّ لَكُمۡ فِیهِ لَمَا تَخَیَّرُونَ ﴿٣٨﴾

oo Waxaad doontaanba aad ka helaysaan

That indeed for you is whatever you choose

أَمۡ لَكُمۡ أَیۡمَـٰنٌ عَلَیۡنَا بَـٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ إِنَّ لَكُمۡ لَمَا تَحۡكُمُونَ ﴿٣٩﴾

Mise ballan adag yaad naga qaadeen tan iyo Maalinta Qiyaame oo waxaad rabtaaan aad xukumaysaan

Or do you have oaths [binding] upon Us, extending until the Day of Resurrection, that indeed for you is whatever you judge

سَلۡهُمۡ أَیُّهُم بِذَ ٰلِكَ زَعِیمٌ ﴿٤٠﴾

Weydii (Nabiyow) Gaalada Cidda damiinka ugu ah Xaalkaas

Ask them which of them, for that [claim], is responsible

أَمۡ لَهُمۡ شُرَكَاۤءُ فَلۡیَأۡتُوا۟ بِشُرَكَاۤئِهِمۡ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِینَ ﴿٤١﴾

mise dad la wadaaga Arrintaas yey leeyihiin, ha keeneen kuwaas hadday run sheegi

Or do they have partners? Then let them bring their partners, if they should be truthful

یَوۡمَ یُكۡشَفُ عَن سَاقࣲ وَیُدۡعَوۡنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾

Maalinta dhudhunka la faydi doono Gaaladana loogu yeedhi doono inay sujuudaan ma karayaan Sujuud

The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are invited to prostration but the disbelievers will not be able

خَـٰشِعَةً أَبۡصَـٰرُهُمۡ تَرۡهَقُهُمۡ ذِلَّةࣱۖ وَقَدۡ كَانُوا۟ یُدۡعَوۡنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ وَهُمۡ سَـٰلِمُونَ ﴿٤٣﴾

Indhaha Gaaladu Maalintaas waa dullaysan tahay waxaana ku muuqda Walbahaar iyo qoomamo, waxayna ahaayeen (Adduunka) kuwa loogu yeeray Sujuud iyagoo nabad qaba

Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. And they used to be invited to prostration while they were sound

فَذَرۡنِی وَمَن یُكَذِّبُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلۡحَدِیثِۖ سَنَسۡتَدۡرِجُهُم مِّنۡ حَیۡثُ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ﴿٤٤﴾

Isu kaana daa aniga iyo kuwa beeniyey Quraanka waana sasabi iyagoon ogeyn

So leave Me, [O Muhammad], with [the matter of] whoever denies the Qur'an. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know

وَأُمۡلِی لَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ كَیۡدِی مَتِینٌ ﴿٤٥﴾

Waana sugi tan iyo muddo, Maamulka Eebana waa xoog badan yahay

And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm

أَمۡ تَسۡءَلُهُمۡ أَجۡرࣰا فَهُم مِّن مَّغۡرَمࣲ مُّثۡقَلُونَ ﴿٤٦﴾

Nabiyow ma waxaad weydiisatay Gaalada Ujuuro oo markaas Cuslleeyey

Or do you ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down

أَمۡ عِندَهُمُ ٱلۡغَیۡبُ فَهُمۡ یَكۡتُبُونَ ﴿٤٧﴾

Mise waxa maqan yaa aktooda yaal ooy wax ka qori

Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down

فَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلۡحُوتِ إِذۡ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكۡظُومࣱ ﴿٤٨﴾

Ku samir Xukunka Eebe hana noqonin sidii Saaxiibkii Xuudka (Mallayga Yuunus) markuu naadiyey Eebihiis isaga oo walbahaarsan

Then be patient for the decision of your Lord, [O Muhammad], and be not like the companion of the fish when he called out while he was distressed

لَّوۡلَاۤ أَن تَدَ ٰرَكَهُۥ نِعۡمَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ لَنُبِذَ بِٱلۡعَرَاۤءِ وَهُوَ مَذۡمُومࣱ ﴿٤٩﴾

Haddan naxariista Eebe haleelin waxaa lagu tuuri lahaa Cidlo (bannaan) isagoo la dagaalay

If not that a favor from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was censured

فَٱجۡتَبَـٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَجَعَلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ﴿٥٠﴾

Waxaase doortay Eebihiis wuxuuna ka dhigay kuwa wanaagsan

And his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous

وَإِن یَكَادُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَیُزۡلِقُونَكَ بِأَبۡصَـٰرِهِمۡ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَیَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجۡنُونࣱ ﴿٥١﴾

Waxay u dhow yihiin kuwi gaaloobay inay daymada kugu lagdaan markay maqlaan Qur'aanka waxayna dhihi waa waalan yahay (Nabigu)

And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the message, and they say, "Indeed, he is mad

وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرࣱ لِّلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ﴿٥٢﴾

Quraanka iyo Nabiguna waa uun waanada Caalamka

But it is not except a reminder to the worlds
